THE ART OF STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

Street photography is a style of photography, sometimes called candid photography, that’s purpose is to capture random incidents and encounters of people in public places. It can happen in any public place where people are out and about like a city street, sidewalk, small town, or even the boardwalk. From Henri Cartier-Bresson, to Robert Frank & Vivian Maier, photographers have been drawn to capturing the people and places around them with unique curiosity and creativity.

I found street photography in my teenage years by accident just wandering through a local thrift store and finding myself drawn to the crowds and people. Throughout the years of working as a photographer, I still return to the streets for inspiration and creativity. It serves as my zen, my meditation with my camera, and a great way to spend the day. Street photography to me is a window into the world around me and always keeps me coming back to wander, watch, and capture those unseen and simple moments happening in the everyday.

As a professional photographer, I've traveled the world doing "street" in places like Cuba, Bali, Thailand, New Orleans, New York city, Miami, and many more intriguing destinations. There is nothing quite like observing people in their day to day moments and cultures, and capturing their essence in a photograph.

I discovered that I find more inspiration and connection through sharing my love of something with other like minded creatives. So, I’ve decided to offer my knowledge of street photography in a one day workshop!

Do you enjoy taking photos and want to learn more about different ways to capture the world around you? How about people watching and walks on the boardwalk? Street Photography might be your next favorite activity! Learn the basics of street photography here at the beach with this one day workshop.

In this workshop, I will give you a brief introduction into the world of street photography! We will start with some inspiration and a short history of street by looking at some well known street photographers and their work. From there, I will guide you through street walks on the boardwalk at different times of day to show you different approaches to photographing people on the street and ways to look at light, technique, and even some portraiture.

The art of street photography is something that can change the way you photograph everywhere, and can be a whole lot of fun in the process! Get ready to learn, create, and make some great new friends in the world of street photography.

I can't wait to share my love of street photography with you!
